Highland County Historical Society celebrates dedication of Hodson House with ribbon cutting
The Highland County Historical Society celebrated the dedication of the Hodson House with a ribbon cutting from the Highland County Chamber of Commerce, along with the Hodson family, friends, and members of the community on November 1, 2024. The Hodson House is located at 149 East Main Street in Hillsboro.
The Hodson House was renovated for the Highland County Historical Society. The dedication of Hodson House is to honor the memory of Bob and Dorothy Hodson. The Hodson House includes a lobby area, a conference room, offices, and a workroom. Available upstairs are three rooms that have been created into a library. The house has been in the works for a few years, but it is completely renovated.
Jeff Hodson said a few words about his Dad, Bob Hodson, “Bob lived in Hillsboro for 80 years and loved his town. He would definitely be smiling today, not because of this but to see all of you people and see this wonderful facility that hopefully will continue the history of Highland County and Hillsboro.”
David Hodson also reflected on his parents, “Our Dad always loved to talk about history.”
In preparation for the dedication, David had been doing some research and found that the Hodson Family had played a role in Highland County since the 1800’s.
David also stated “Who you are is really the history that you are a part of and were all a part of Highland County, Highland County is a part of you. Dad emphasized that all the time, it was so important to him.”
Vicki Knauff, Highland County Historical Society Executive Director, also said a few words about Bob Hodson. Vicki stated, “Bob was our biggest cheerleader for the Historical Society, and I really do miss his emails and his little notes that he would send letters of encouragement and support.”
The Hodson House ribbon cutting dedication was followed by a welcome tour and refreshments.
